wisdom from my boss

Our office meets on Monday mornings for prayer. Often Boss1 shares something that God has been using in his life. This past week he shared the main points of his pastor's sermon from the previous Sunday.

You cannot do great things without great people.

Proverbs 2:6

6 For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;

Fear God and you will never have to be afraid of anything else.

Matthew 10:28

28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Being part of a new move of God always requires a new level of flexibility

Matthew 9:14-15, 17

14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?”
15 And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.  17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Focus on becoming more effective, not on becoming more successful.

Matthew 25:20-23

20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
